How to export a Google Ads report as CSV

Download campaign performance from Google Ads as a CSV file, with a daily breakdown, so you can benchmark it.

Google Ads can download any table you are looking at. The same steps work for Search, Shopping, Performance Max and YouTube campaigns.

Steps

  1. In Google Ads, open Campaigns and pick the date range you want to benchmark (the last 30 days is a good start).
  2. For a workspace import, add a daily breakdown: open Segment, then Time, then Day. Skip this for the free report.
  3. Click the Download icon (a downward arrow above the table) and choose .csv. "Excel .csv" works too.
  4. Keep the default columns, or make sure Cost, Impr., Clicks, Conversions and Conv. value are in the table before downloading.
Google puts a title line and the date range above the column headers and a totals row below them. Benchmarketing skips both, so there is no need to edit the file.

Which columns Benchmarketing reads

Needed forColumn (any of these names)
Every reportCost, Spend, Amount spent
CTR and CPMImpressions, Impr.
CTR, CPC and conversion rateClicks, Link clicks
Conversion rate and CPAConversions, Results, Leads, Purchases
ROASConversion value, Conv. value, Purchase conversion value
Daily tracking in the appDay, Date, Reporting starts

Extra columns are ignored, and total or summary rows at the bottom of the file are skipped automatically.

Free report or workspace import?

  • The [free benchmark report](/tools/ad-benchmark-report) accepts any summary export, with or without a date column. The file is read in your browser and never uploaded.
  • Importing into your workspace (Integrations, then Import a report) needs one row per day, so add a daily breakdown before exporting. That is what lets the app track your position week by week.

About the figures
